These committees have activities throughout the year

This committee exists as a parent resource to answer general questions about allergies present in the school. Also can be used as a resource for PTA events to make sure they are allergy aware in planning their activity.

Volunteers are needed to maintain and improve our school garden. Included would be to organize and facilitate fall and spring clean-up at Oak Ridge, in addition to any as needed maintenance of the garden.

This committee works to welcome the new kindergarten families to Oak Ridge. The chair makes sure that families are informed about PTA activities and events. Help organize and distribute the welcome bags to Kindergarten students at the beginning of the school year.

Sorts lost and found items on a regular basis and donates unclaimed items. Posts pictures of the lost and found periodically.

Volunteers make hot chocolate in the school kitchen for the outdoor Safety Patrol on mornings when the wind-chill factor is below 32°F. This occurs during 3 months of the school year only.

Oak Ridge wear is a fun way to show your school spirit. This committee sells T-shirts, sweatshirts and other spirit wear as determined by the committee for both kids and adults. Organizing, communicating and distributing spirit wear items would be up to those individuals in the committee.

Volunteers help organize stock the staff lounge with snacks/drinks periodically. Other activities included organizing breakfast during late starts, dinners during conferences and other. Members of this committee also plan ways to acknowledge our staff during Staff Appreciation Month in May.

The 5
th
grade year has several unique events including the Instrumental Music program in the spring. Volunteers are needed to help set-up and take down for the music assembly. Help is also needed to plan the 5th grade promotion ceremony which includes decorations, t-shirts for the students, cake and refreshments. This committee is often made up of 5th grade parents/guardians.
