These events occur once every year

This event is organized by the VP of Social and Communication, but can be supported by PTA members on a committee. This event is typically an ice cream social which occurs immediately before the first PTA meeting of the school year.

Students, parents and teachers walk from the Walgreens at 12 mile and Rochester to Oak Ridge. Volunteers needed to help distribute bagels and juice to students as they arrive to the school. The event is coordinated by the school secretary and the Royal Oak Fire Department, but the PTA helps promote this annual event!

Family friendly event that occurs during the evening on school grounds. Families sign up to decorate trunks in family friendly and fun themes.

This event invites every student to invite an adult to enjoy breakfast (food decided by
committee) at school with them one morning before school starts. Volunteers are needed to publicize, organize the event, order food, set up/clean up and distribute breakfast.

Chairs help to coordinate a date and set up with a book fair vendor. Volunteers help set up and take down the Book Fair, and also assist students in selecting and purchasing books. This event happens twice a year.

A National PTA Sponsored art awareness program with a yearly competition in several categories. Individuals are needed to organize, publicize and implement a Reflections Program at Oak Ridge.

Winter Market is a holiday shopping event that allows kids to purchase gifts at kid friendly prices. The shop usually takes place in early December. Organize the event, including finding vendors or purchasing items for the shop.

Committee would be responsible for planning, organizing and implementing the plan for this event. Volunteers are needed to help obtain decorations, with food and refreshments, set-up and take-down this dance for upper elementary students (3rd-5th grades).

Volunteers are needed to plan and schedule science and math activities for the students during the week. Usually involves assemblies, school-wide experiments, fun math/science facts and dress up days.

Parents and teachers will run experiment stations and assist students at their stations. Volunteers also needed to set up & clean up. Commitment is one hour that evening. This event requires a lot of planning and volunteers but is a favorite amongst students and staff!

Volunteers will help with evening activities for families going without TV for a week in the spring. The committee is responsible for organizing activities to take place each evening during the week which promote students and families to “unplug” from screens. Some activities done in the past include swim night at the high school, skate night at Skate World, game night at Oak Ridge, scavenger hunts on your own time, visit the library.

The Oak Ridge end of the year event is a fun-filled tradition, a great way to end the school year! Chairs are responsible for planning the events, contacting vendors, coordinating activities and publicizing it. Requires many volunteers!!

A few Individuals are needed to read and review essays submitted by High School students for scholarships. A grading/scoring rubric is provided for the volunteers.
